A little while ago I had another round of technological issues with my website. I am only semiliterate as far as computer stuff is concerned and I needed help to sort out some wed issues that were well beyond my capabilities. While I am relieved that things are back to “normal” I have actually lost a few news stories that were here on this page L
I can’t bear the thought of re-writing and working to make things fit nicely on the page and I’ve realised that thought has been blocking me for doing much needed up-date here.
So – here is just a small mention of what was lost, and then I can get on with up-to-date news!
Every now and then at Double Elephant I get the chance to edition other peoples intaglio prints for them. This I find that I actually like the technical challenge of printing consistently in a style of how the artist wants it to be.
One of the prints I have enjoyed working on most recently has been an etching I’ve done of a hedgehog. We all love hedgehogs – they are such engaging characters. The etching went more or less as planned (which isn’t always the case with etching), plus I allowed plenty of scope for happy accidents!
1980 – First post school printmaking. During the Conservation of Prints & Drawings course I had to learn about, make and print the full range of print processes available to the ‘Old Masters’. Woodcut, Wood engraving, Etching (hard ground, soft ground and aquatint), Engraving, Lithography (plate and stone), and screenprint.
