In September I took part in Devon Open Studios (DOS) for the first time in years.
I had been quite happy taking part in just Exeter Open Studios (EOS) for the past few years. But I was aware that there was a strong possibility that EOS wouldn’t take place this November. This was mainly due to the person who organised EOS for the past couple of years being seriously ill. That person has since made a good recovery, but my hunch was correct and EOS has been postponed to spring 2013.
Devon Open Studios covers a much longer period of time than Exeter Open Studios, and there was no way that I could be ensconced in my studio for the full 16 days. So I opened for the three accutane online weekends. After a bit of a slow start things picked up nicely and it proved to be a well worth exercise. Both in meeting new people and generating sales.
I always like to produce something extra for open studios and for DOS the new experimental items were hand printed silk scarves. These created quite a bit of interest and only a few remain to carry over into EOS in the spring.
