First go at Video!!

Having come across Animoto I thought I’d have a go at making a little 30 second video.

After all it looks ridiculously easy!! And it really was as easy as it looked. You just choose a video style from a selection available, choose some music from their library of licensed music, upload some photographs (and video clips if you happen to have some) then cross your fingers while the programme does the work for you!!
OK there is little scope for artistic control, but if you don’t happen to have any skills in that area it’s nice not to have to stress.
I did attempt to get a little progression or story by the way I sequenced the photographs.
My little video is really an animated slide show of sneaky-peeps showing glimpses of my working practice – from constructing the collagraph plates, inking them, adding inked up plant materials and the moment of pulling the print from that plate.
My intention is to make people want to see more – does it work for you???

A fun little slide show video showing glimpses of my making and printing methods. Hope you enjoy. 😀

Through my artwork I look to say something about the environment - explore how we interact, use, abuse and collaborate with the natural world around us. This has taken me to increasingly focus on the small ubiquitous and often reviled weeds and bugs that form the foundation and engine-room of ecosystems. I use a wide range of printmaking techniques – both traditional and innovative, often creating complex one off prints. ****** Co-founder and director of Double Elephant Print Workshop since 1997.
